Indonesia is famous for its beautiful islands as it’s recognized as the archipelago country with around 17,000 islands. Not only, it is also famous for its tasty street food that many foreign visitors are highly interested in trying while they are in Indonesia.
Can you guess what they are? Let me tell you know ๐
1. Indonesian Fried Rice or Nasi Goreng

This is the most wanted Indonesian Food ever. I mean whenever I meet foreign visitors who have come to Indonesia, this is their favorite menu, simple fried rice. It is really easy actually to cook it. I mean I have been able to cook fried rice since I was 13 years old.
But I agree with everyone who loves it, it’s really tasty and yummy. Even I have met some Italians here who told me that “I love your nasi goreng” when they knew I come from Indonesia. (The secret might be in Indonesian sweet black soy sauce or kecap manis)
2. Chicken Rice Porridge with Curry Broth

And this is another way of cooking rice in Indonesia, by making it into porridge. And what’s so special about Indonesian Chicken Porridge is that it adds curry broth into the dish. Hmmm, yummy!
P.S I deeply miss this one a lot!
3. Meatball (Bakwan Malang) with Cendol Ice

Coming from East Java, this meatball dish named Bakwan Malang is one of the street food that you must absolutely try! As it’s great to be served hot, you wouldn’t also want to miss the delicious drink accompanying it, Indonesian Cendol Ice that is made of green grass jelly with coconut milk and brown sugar, hmmm, starting to drool now! ๐
4. Chicken Noodles

Yes we absolutely eat noodles too, with chopsticks, like the Chinese! And chicken noodles dish is totally one of the best-selling street food you can find in Indonesia.
The chicken noodles dish you see in the image was the one I ate at a very well-known noodles restaurant in Jakarta, Gajah Mada Noodles or Bakmi Gajah Mada.
5. Indonesian Pancake or Martabak Manis

And of course, what is a complete meal experience without having a dessert? So here it is, we have it too, pancake! Called Martabak manis in Indonesia, this sweet pancake will make you want it again and again once you try it.
It’s made of butter, peanuts, cheese and chocolates (sometimes). P.S. BEWARE! Addiction guaranteed! ๐
So, these five are Indonesian street food orย Indonesian food that I would recommend to you. There are of course so many other tasty food that you can find in Indonesia, but, make sure you try these five if you visit my country ๐
Note: Please make sure that you find good restaurants that maintain quality and hygiene when they serve the dishes as health is the most important thing ๐
